2008 Dayton Dragons Field Staff
|
Manager
Donnie Scott
|
Donnie Scott is back for his fifth season as Dragons manager, after being at the helm from 2001-2003, and then again last season (2007). Scott has enjoyed great success as the skipper of the Miami Valley’s team, reaching postseason play in three of his four years. In 2007, Scott led the Dragons to a franchise-record 44 victories in the first half of the season. As a reward for bringing home the first-half title, Scott and his staff were named the field staff for the Eastern Division All-Star Team, where they brought home a 8-2 victory at Kane County’s Elfstrom Stadium.

Hitting Coach
Darren Bragg
|
The 2007 season was Bragg’s first season as a coach in affiliated baseball, following a stint as an instructor at a baseball school in Connecticut in 2006. The 2007 Dragons ranked second in hits and home runs, while finishing third in batting average under Bragg’s guidance. Like Doug Bair, Bragg brings more than a decade’s worth of Major League experience with him to the ballpark. The well-traveled outfielder spent 11 years in the “bigs”, playing for nine different teams including a stint with the Cincinnati Reds in 2004.

Pitching Coach
Doug Bair
|
Bair brings a wealth of knowledge to his second season as pitching coach of the Dayton Dragons. After serving as pitching coach for the Billings Mustangs in 2006, Bair filled the same role for Dayton in 2007. His staff compiled a 78-62 record with a 3.41 ERA, and led the Midwest League with 1109 strikeouts. Bair is no stranger to the mound himself, as he spent 15 years pitching in the major leagues with seven different teams. As a right-handed reliever, Bair won World Series rings with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1982 and the Detroit Tigers in 1984.
